This is our distressed version of the first authorized Ranger insignia. Authorized for wear by all Ranger Battlations in July 1943, the 'Ranger Diamond' was only worn briefly (and most famously) during Operation Overlord by 2nd Ranger Battalion during their assault on the beach on D-Day. The diamond was later replaced in 1947 by the now known 'Ranger Scroll'.
